CASTING DIRECTORS: How do I know when I am recording in FastCapture®?

Edited

This article explains the visual indicators that appear when a user is successfully recording in FastCapture® and how to use the full screen capturing feature to manage your session views.

Standard Recording Indicators

When you begin recording a session in FastCapture®, the interface provides specific visual cues to let you know the recording is active:

A partial screenshot of a video recording interface. A red circle highlights the **'REC 0:00:15'** text in the bottom left, indicating the recording is active and has lasted 15 seconds. Another red circle highlights a **white stop button (a square inside a circle)** on the right, which is placed above an 'Audio' label. The background is a mix of dark gray and lighter gray panels, typical of screen recording or video software.

  • The red Record button changes to a black Stop button.

  • A Time Code Counter appears to the left of the button.

Full Screen Capturing

You can enable full screen capturing in your preferences if you prefer the video preview to occupy the entire display during a session.

  • Starting the Record: When recording begins while this feature is enabled, the video preview will take over the screen.

  • Stopping the Record: When the recording is stopped, the preview will return to the normal view.

A close-up of a recording interface showing the **'REC'** text in red with a red dot next to it, indicating recording is in progress. The timer next to it reads **'0:00:08'**, meaning the recording is 8 seconds long. To the right is a **large, circular white stop button** with a black square icon in the center. The interface is composed of dark gray and lighter gray horizontal bars.

In full screen capturing mode, the controls function the same way: the red Record button turns to a black Stop button with the Time Code Counter displayed to the left.
