TALENT: Why are my audition sides watermarked and how do I access them?
This article explains the watermarking security feature for audition sides and other documents on Casting Networks. We'll cover why this feature is used and walk you through how to access and download your watermarked materials.
What is watermarking?
To protect sensitive casting documents like scripts and sides, Casting Directors can enable a watermarking feature. When this feature is active, any sides or scripts you open or download will be stamped with your email address. This ensures that the documents are traceable and helps to prevent unauthorized sharing.
Each page of the PDF document will be stamped with your email address in a light gray watermark, displayed diagonally across the page.
How to access watermarked sides
When a project uses watermarking, you will need to log in to your Casting Networks account to access any documents. You will no longer receive direct download sides links in your email notifications for these projects.
Instead of a direct link, the "Attachments" section of the email will state: “Log in to view attachments.”
Follow these steps to download your sides:
Open the audition or role notification email you received.
Click the button to view the role, which will prompt you to log in to your Casting Networks account.
Once logged in, you can access the documents from several places in your account
Selecting the sides will open them in a new tab, where they will be watermarked with your email address
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why do I have to log in now? I used to get links directly in my email.
Requiring a login is a key part of this security feature. It verifies your identity and ensures that only you can access sensitive materials, which are then watermarked specifically for you.
I’m having trouble accessing the sides. Can Support email them to me?
For security reasons, our support team cannot email sides or other casting documents to you. You must access them by logging into your account via the role notification you received. This ensures the document is correctly and securely watermarked.
Will all sides I receive be watermarked?
Not necessarily. This feature is enabled by the Casting Director. You will only go through this process for projects where the casting team has chosen to activate watermarking.
