Supported Equipment 

Below you will find a list of all of the equipment that Casting Networks currently supports and recommends while using FastCapture on your computer. 

Please note that more expensive cameras will generally have more features and better lenses/ sensors, as well as higher resolution displays (4K, 6K, etc.). While better optics and camera sensors will have an effect on the final output of the record, FastCapture outputs video at 720P, so there is no real advantage to having higher-resolution cameras. 

Any 1080P camera that can output to HDMI, should be sufficient. We can recommend the following equipment that is known to work with FastCapture, based on our own testing, or testing by our partners.

    • Please Note: While some of our long-time customers will recall that Casting Networks used to also recommend BlackMagic Converter Boxes, this is no longer the case. The BlackMagic devices that we have previously recommended are no longer supported by BlackMagic. Because of this, Casting Networks now explicitly recommends and supports only the Magewell Converter Box. – – Other HDMI capture devices may work, but Casting Networks does not recommend or support these other devices.

  • FastCapture only runs on Apple devices. We recommend recent models, from at least 2017. However, if you are buying new, we recommend buying a computer that is only 2 years old, preferable newest to date. (FastCapture will run on all M processor Macs.)
