TALENT: What is a Leading or Trailing space?

When updating your profile, you might see a message that reads “No leading or trailing spaces.”

A leading space is a space that is located before the first character (letter, number, punctuation mark) in a text entry field.

A trailing space is a space that is located after the final character in a text entry field.

You will not be able to save the text if this error message is showing. These might be difficult for you to see, because the space is blank, especially if you are entering multiple lines of text in a given field.

The best way to locate this space is by putting your curser at the start of the word and using the arrow key to get to the end. You can then backspace the extra space and the error message will disappear.
