Media is eligible for swapping after 21 days of being uploaded! During the first 21 days, this media counts towards the active storage space, and users will not be able to archive or delete it. This includes media uploaded to profiles, media requested by casting, and media uploaded to submissions.
Users will be able to see when a given file can be archived, by viewing the details of the media in the Media Library. You will see an “Eligible for Archival” date showing you how soon each piece of media will be available to be moved out of your active storage.
The amount of active storage space is determined by your Membership level:
Free: 350 MB of storage
Essential: 1 GB of storage
Premium: 3.5 GB of currently unrestricted storage
Media that is archived doesn’t show on your profile and doesn’t count towards your active storage limit.
Why do I have to wait 21 days?
- The casting ecosystem involves many people viewing and interacting with media over the course of a project. We keep media in an active state after upload to ensure that everyone involved in a project has access to the media.
- Unlike traditional file storage sites, we are providing your uploaded media to a broader network that needs to continue to access the media
- Media uploaded to Casting Networks incurs a cost for the platform to transform, check, and store the media while making it available to other parts of the ecosystem. Our policies serve to ensure pricing aligns with the costs incurred by the platform so that we can continue providing this service.
