CASTING DIRECTORS: How do I edit/clone a media requests?

Edited

This article is for Casting Directors who need to make changes to a media request that has already been sent. Whether you need to correct details, switch the media type, or resend to a different group of talent, this guide walks you through what you can update directly and when you will need to clone the request to make those changes.

What You Can Edit Without Cloning

Some updates can be made to a sent media request without needing to clone it at all:

  • Change the due date

  • Add or update sides for a role — this will automatically update the sides on any existing requests

  • Send messages to talent with New or Pending request status to share any updates

When You Need to Clone a Request

If you need to make edits beyond the items listed above, you will need to clone the original request. A few common reasons you might clone a request include:

  • You need to correct details on an already-sent request

  • You sent a request for video only but meant to include audio as well — you can clone the request and update the media type

  • You want to resend to a specific group of talent based on their response status

Before cloning, we strongly recommend canceling the original request first. When you cancel, you can include a message letting talent and agents know that a corrected request is on the way. This prevents talent from responding to the old, incorrect request while the new one is being prepared.

Note: Any media that was uploaded within the original request session will not carry over to the cloned request.

How to Clone a Media Request

  1. Click on the project name.

  2. Click on Requests below the project name.

  3. Click on the original request you want to clone.

  4. Select Clone Request.

  5. A window will appear where you can choose which talent to include in the new request. You can select by status:

    • All

    • Sent & Pending

    • Confirmed

    • Declined

    • Completed

All statuses are selected by default. Counts next to each status show how many talent fall into each group.

  6. Select Clone. All fields from the original request will be pre-populated — you can edit any details or add/remove talent as needed.

  7. Once everything looks good, select Send Cloned Request.

Your cloned request will now function as a standard media request. To avoid talent and agents having multiple open requests for the same project, cancel the original request before sending the cloned one.

FAQs

Will the media from my original request transfer to the cloned request?

No. Any media uploaded in the original request session will not appear in the cloned request. You will need to re-upload any media files as needed.

Do I have to cancel the original request before cloning?

It is not required, but it is strongly recommended. Canceling the original first prevents talent from responding to the incorrect or outdated request while the new one is being sent.

Can I change the media type (video, audio) when cloning?

Yes. All fields in the cloned request are pre-populated but fully editable, including the media type. This is one of the most common reasons to use the clone feature.

Can I add or remove talent from the cloned request?

Yes. After the clone is created, you can add or remove talent before sending the cloned request.
